Our signature soup is different from the typical Japanese ramen soup. Its flavor is not shoyu, tonkotsu, miso, or shio-based. Instead, our specialty gourmet ramen broth is highly original while also nostalgic. Our founder’s background as a French chef enabled him to create a delectable and healthy consommé broth like no other found around the globe.
Today, only those who pass a strict qualification and achieve the title of Soup Sommelier can prepare Kamukura soup in our restaurants in Japan and beyond. Our clear-broth soup is perfectly paired with medium-thin egg noodles that are made fresh and imported from Japan. We import our noodles and original soup from Japan to ensure quality consistency.
We call this perfect bowl “Oishi Ramen” or “Delicious Ramen.”
With an expanded menu featuring Hawaiʻi Special Ramen and an array of starters, salads, sushi, donburi, main dishes, and more, KAMUKURA Surf + Dine is committed to using only the best ingredients – with as many as possible grown, raised, and caught in the islands.

Our diverse menu caters to every palate, whether you're looking for a leisurely dinner with loved ones, a quick lunch catch-up with friends, or a solo meal at the bar. Kamukura Surf + Dine offers a relaxed setting where laughter flows as freely as the conversation. Come as you are, and leave with a satisfied heart, a full stomach, and a smile.

OUR HISTORY
Founded in 1986, Kamukura Ramen began as a humble 9-seat shop in Dotonbori—the
entertainment district of Osaka, Japan. In pursuit of something never before tasted, our founder started his quest to create ramen using his culinary training in French cuisine. His dedication to perfecting the soup resulted in our trademarked Oishi Ramen, achieved through a blend of French flair and Japanese soul food.
Beloved by the people for many decades, Kamukura Ramen has grown in popularity and expanded to 100 locations across Japan. With its international expansion, the company opened its first U.S. location at Ala Moana Center in Hawaiʻi in 2022. The ramen bar features counter seating and a Hawaiʻi Limited Edition Menu.
The opening of KAMUKURA Surf + Dine in Waikīkī in 2024 represents the company’s first flagship restaurant in the U.S. With 120 seats, 2 VIP rooms, a casual bar, and a customized menu blending authentic Japanese flavors and Hawaiʻi ingredients, our restaurant is designed to bring happiness to the whole family.
